Resin Bound Driveways
Resin Bound Stone has been around for over twenty years, but it’s only in the past few years that Resin technology has advanced sufficiently.
It has become an affordable option for homeowners and developers to utilise the material for Resin Bound Driveways.
Also, the Polyurethane Resin has advanced its properties.
These include; increased durability, flexibility (to allow some movement without cracking), and most importantly – reduced costs!
Resin Bound Stone: The Benefits
Resin Bound Stone has taken the mantle from imprinted concrete and blocks/flags as being the answer to many driveway problems, with significant benefits.
- Porous surface; bye bye puddles.
- No need for planning permission like ‘traditional’ pavings now require.
- Virtually maintenance free; an annual jetwash is recommended.
- No need to reseal; moss and weeds are almost entirely eliminated.
- Also there are no joints to require weeding, demossing and repointing.
- Hugely durable; three times stronger than most tarmac wearing courses.
- Additionally, it has the timeless beauty of natural stone without the problems of loose stone.
Resin Bound Stone: The Structure and Base
The composition of Resin Bound Stone is simple; natural stone bound together by polyurethane resin.
The exact composition, ratio of various size aggregates, resin percentage, mixing process, thickness etc. have been carefully devised and tested to ensure there stability and long term performance.
However, the underlying base build up will be different for each project.
As with all construction; strength comes from building up in progressive lavers.
