How long will the grass be and will it withstand the children playing on it ?

Quality grass is normally 30-45 mm long and has various quality levels to suit the usage from just for the dog to use all the way to football pitch as part of a ball park installation. It’s not just the length of the grass but also the thickness which is to be considered.

Will the area have a join in it? will I see the join?

Rolls of turf standard are normally 2.4m, and sometimes 5m wide. Most small areas can be covered in one piece which is better than having to join it together.

But we can join the turf of course and our professional installation team will use a nest joint in this instance so you wouldn’t notice it’s there.

What preparation and ground works are required?

A standard installation would be 150 mm excavation and build up would comprise of 100-125mm compacted mot sub base on a ground sheet, 30-40 mm compacted and screeded m grade or granno dust screed to lay the turf out flat onto.

All jobs are different and build ups can vary mainly due to ground conditions and drainage concerns. For boggy ground we would excavate deeper and potentially supply and fit land drains as an optional extra before the above build up process.

How do you clean and maintain artificial grass?

Leaf blowing leaves and debris off regularly is a great idea so organic matter isn’t treated onto the artificial grass. Everybso often a quick liven up with some kiln dried and power brush to fluff the grass up again. In some cases where organic matter has been left to build up an algae and weed kill treatment would be a good idea to prevent any surface growth. Prevention is always the best option when looking after artificial grass.

How much does artificial grass cost?

Each job is different but you should budget around £80/£110 per m2 for a medium sized garden area, with a quality grass finish including edgings.

An area of 60- 100m sq would be classified as a medium size job.
