Garden landscaping project Heaton Moor, Stockport

Typical of a new build to have zero love put into the back garden!! But that’s why we were called in, to help create some usable areas, and a space to be proud of. 

Our client, as often happens, allowed us to lead on the design and build, with all options open regarding materials and creative expression.

The garden was sloping, and we felt it would benefit from being divided up into areas and separating into levels.

We added retaining walls which we formed into oak planters, and added oak steps down onto a resin bound sunken patio area – a beautiful finish and one that allows surface water to drain away easily.

Our client has a busy lifestyle with work and sporting commitments, so low maintenance was high on the brief. As such we felt composite decking, resin bound stone, astro turf and porcelain paving were ideal finishes for the varying different spaces.

We did however feel it was very important to include the oak accents and to plant up the beds, in order to add some natural beauty to the space, and soften up all the man made materials. This worked nicely as a juxtaposition against the tones of grey, which were our main focus with the man made visuals.

To say this is a sun trap is an understatement. Our clients are delighted. And for us, this was a  really rewarding project.
